Casting Brass Shows Class
Embracing V.A.S.S.

Chemin Bernard, Carol Goldwasser, and the CSA Board heard our pitch at their September meeting and their response was fantastic.

In fact, they liked the V.A.S.S. pledge idea enough to suggest we write an article for their next CSA newsletter.

That means the primary goal of V.A.S.S. (to get "PWDs" included on breakdowns the way "ALL ETHNICITIES" is) is well on its way to becoming a reality.

We salute the Casting Society of America and will keep everyone informed as this story develops.

Our Mission

At V.A.S.S., we help you reach out and resonate with an audience of over 50 million Americans with disabilities.

Our service adds value to your film, television or multimedia project by adding characters with depth, warmth, drama and humor that you won't find anywhere else.

You'll discover that a character with a disability adds dimension to your story and gravitas to your theme. Like choices of ice-cream, we'll help you get beyond the usual chocolate and vanilla so your project enjoys a fuller pallet of human flavor.

See our producer services for details.

Our goal is for every casting breakdown to have at least one:

“All ethnicities/PWD* okay.”

Writer's Guild Hotline

In order to get more characters with disabilities into film and TV, we have to start with the writers. Because writing is where it all begins.

So we’re offering a free resource to writers who are thinking about including PWD (people with disabilities) into their projects.

We’ll get you in touch with a consultant who has first-hand knowledge of a particular disability .

And our writers' resource can suggest great background material, from classical literature up to recent films, to enhance your project.

Plus, our seminar series is a great way to have a fun evening and to get in the right frame of mind -- to see people with disabilities represented in your writing as much as they are in the world.

Whether you’re a WGA writer with a studio gig or working on your spec, just contact Danny Murphy to get started.
